  • With the presentation of the Alfetta Alfa Romeo launched a completely new car to the market, that had nothing in common with the last generation of Alfas exept for the engines. The front suspension was independent with double wishbones and torsion bars. The rear suspension had a DeDion beam. Like on the 8C2900 the clutch, gearbox, differential and brakes were ones unit. It was popular due to its combination of a modest weight with powerful engines, selling 478812 units until the end of its production run. It was presented in may 1972 at Trieste together with the Alfetta 159. The 1800cc version was the first, followed by the 1600cc and the 2000cc version.
